Book’s proceeds to benefit The GroundTruth Project

Author Robert Giles and The GroundTruth Project announced on May 4, 2020, that a portion of the profits from When Truth Mattered will go to this nonprofit journalism organization.

Also, The GroundTruth Project is a finalist to receive a grant from the MacArthur Foundation to further its work. Said the Foundation:

“The MacArthur Foundation, which named Report for America a finalist in their competition for a $100 million, recognized that the collapse of local news represents a challenge on par with homelessness, children’s health and the future of the world’s oceans. This competition and the transformative gift that MacArthur is offering to the winner is intended to ‘fund a single proposal that promises real and measurable progress in solving a critical problem of our time.’

“We are honored and humbled by the recognition of our proposal to eliminate local news deserts and we are fully committed to redoubling our efforts to train and support emerging journalists who will fill information gaps in the communities they serve.”
